The 1916-C by Newport is a Handheld Optical Power Meter is designed for accurate measurement of both high and low power levels. The 1916-C is equipped with a DB15 input connector that ensures direct compatibility with high power or low power detectors. To utilize low power detectors effectively, it is recommended to employ the 841-DIN adapter.

The front panel of the 1916-C features various control keys to enhance user control and convenience. These include the I/O Control Key, Zero /dBm Control Key, ATT Control Key, Save λ Control Key, λ Up and λ Down Control Keys, as well as Fast and Slow Control Keys. The Zero /dBm Control Key is employed to eliminate electronic offset, detector offset, and ambient light interference on the detector readings. The Fast and Slow control keys allow users to toggle between fast and slow modes, enabling them to anticipate and reduce the natural response time of the detector as needed. The LCD display of the 1916-C power meter provides users with valuable information such as measurement data, wavelength details, attenuator selection, and other useful messages. Notably, the display includes an ATT field that indicates whether the chosen detector sensitivity accounts for the presence of the attenuator used during calibration.
