Newport 1918-R

The Newport 1918-R Optical Power Meter is a highly capable device designed to accurately measure the optical power and energy monochromatic or near-monochromatic sources. With a range of features, this power meter is suitable for both stationary and portable applications, offering versatility and convenience. Equipped with rechargeable batteries that are internal or the option to use an AC wall-plug, the 1918-R ensures reliable power supply in various settings. Its user-friendly design incorporates an intuitive menu-driven structure, allowing quick and easy access to different measurement modes, features, and settings.

Key features of the 1918-R include a USB device interface, external USB flash-memory compatibility, and an impressive internal data point storage capacity of 250,000. The device also comes with a comprehensive software suite and offers a measurement rate of up to 4 kHz, supported by an internal signal sampling rate of 250 kHz. This power meter supports multiple measurement modes, including peak-to-peak, integrated, continuous, and single, catering to a wide range of power and energy measurement needs. Additionally, it is compatible with various detectors such as Photodiode, Thermopile, and Pyroelectric detectors. The 1918-R boasts a full-color TFT 4" LCD display, ensuring excellent visibility for users with or without laser goggles.

The 1918-R is handheld and offers exceptional power stability with a 0.6 Hz analog filter. It is designed to be compact and can be used in both field and laboratory environments. The power meter features a patented self-centering zoom bar graph and is compatible with Windows 7 and XP, offering versatility in terms of operating systems. With the ability to perform high-power measurements in the 1 mW to 20 kW range (detector dependent) and energy measurements of pulsed laser sources from 7 mJ to 20 kJ (detector dependent), the 1918-R accommodates a wide range of power and energy measurement requirements. These measurements can be carried out using 818P Series Calibrated Thermopile Detectors for high-power measurements and 818E Series Calibrated Pyroelectric Sensors for energy measurements, operating in different wavelength ranges.

The 1918-R offers additional display modes, such as Analog Gauge mode for tuning adjustments and Graph screen mode for oscilloscope-like visualization of real-time optical power levels. Users can customize the display with six available colors to match specific lighting conditions and laser safety eyewear colors. The power meter supports various display formats, including numeric, graphic, bar, and strip charts. For data analysis and flexibility, the 1918-R comes with software that allows users to operate in a command line environment and download data that is collected onto a computer. The software provides True Root-Mean-Square (RMS) measurements, ensuring accurate RMS values regardless of the input waveform's shape.
