The Newport 1936-C is an Optical Power and Energy Meter, designed to accurately measure various signal characteristics. With its patented methods for signal measurement, this meter offers exceptional sensitivity at the femtowatt level. The 1936-C is specifically designed to work seamlessly with a wide range of semiconductor-based low power detectors, thermopile detectors, and pyroelectric detectors, all equipped with a DB15 connector or adapter for easy connection to the meter. The hot-swappable feature enables users to switch detectors without the need to power cycle the device, enhancing efficiency during measurement tasks.
The 1936-C is well-suited for applications requiring measurements of low-power, high-power, or continuous/pulsed light sources. It excels in handling high-speed dynamical phenomena, capable of accommodating repetition rates of up to 10 kHz at a 250 kHz sampling rate. This eliminates the need for an oscilloscope in many scenarios. The 1936-C offers multiple display modes, including DC, peak-to-peak, and pulse measurements, along with an Analog Gauge display mode. Users can measure low-power using the compatible 918D series InGaAs, Germanium, or Silicon detectors, which cover a broad spectrum from 200 nm to 1800 nm. These detectors come equipped with built-in temperature sensors that actively compensate and monitor measurement fluctuations resulting from temperature changes.
The 1936-C features a singular channel input with a 15-pin D-sub type connector, providing a reliable connection with the detectors. Furthermore, the meter offers analog and digital filtering, trigger in/out control with alarm levels, and an advanced programming toolkit compatible with .NET and LabVIEW. This meter has a full software suite that includes LabVIEW, C++, and CSharp samples. For high-power measurements, the 1936-C offers a wide range from 1 uWatt to 2 kWatt, enabled by the use of a thermopile detector operating in the 0.19 um - 11 um range. Additionally, for pulsed laser source energy measurements, pyroelectric detectors operating in the 0.19 um - 20 um wavelength range can accurately capture energy levels ranging from 7 uJoule to 20 kJoules.
The 1936-C comes with a 5.7” Graphical TFT LCD display that ensures optimized legibility at any angle and under various lighting conditions or when using colored eyewear. Data storage options include a USB flash drive or the meter’s internal memory. The meter also provides color plotting, statistical analysis, and data post-processing that is on-board. The analog bar graph with 10X zoom, along with USB data transfer of up to 11 Mbps, further enhances data visualization and transfer capabilities. With true rms measurements and automation functionality, the 1936-C is well-suited for laboratory and testing applications. It offers a wide array of programmable input and output controlling triggers, facilitating precise control during experimentation.
