The Newport 843-R-USB is a handheld Laser Power and Energy Meter that utilizes thermopile, photodiode, and pyroelectric sensors for operation. Configuring and calibrating the meter is a straightforward process achieved by connecting the sensor, which features smart connector technology. With its advanced features, the 843-R-USB sets a new standard in accuracy, compactness, sensitivity, sophistication, and user-friendly operation. Featuring a large TFT 320 x 240 screen, this meter offers enhanced measurement readouts. It allows for both digital and analog power measurements simultaneously and includes a needle type display that can be set to auto range mode.

The 843-R-USB incorporates advanced circuitry and digital signal processing, resulting in exceptional response time, accuracy, signal to noise ratio, and sensitivity. The meter's infrastructure is optimized for field software upgrades if necessary. When a sensor is not plugged in, this meter provides users with options to hide or show settings, change the line frequency setting, set the real-time clock, view the instrument's serial number, last calibration date, and firmware version. The 843-R-USB also allows for re-zeroing of the instrument. The meter features soft keys that provide various functions to select between Power and Energy measurement modes.

The 843-R-USB offers two display modes: a high-resolution simulated analog needle and a large digital display with a bar graph.
