The Newport CS130 is a cutting-edge Oriel High Resolution 1/8 m Monochromator specifically designed for OEM and research applications. It features an advanced optical design based on an out-of-plane version of the Ebert-Fastie monochromator, with aligned input and output ports for simplified system alignment. This configuration ensures maximum throughput and high resolution while minimizing abbreviations and providing excellent stray light rejection. The CS130 is equipped with a high-precision motor that enables users to effortlessly select desired wavelengths and switch between diffraction gratings without compromising instrument performance.
The CS130 operates exclusively with fixed slits at the input and output ports. These fixed slits can fit into the input and lateral output ports when slid into a holder, boasting a 1.5-inch male flange for seamless integration with the monochromator. While the CS130 is also compatible with adjustable slits, which offer increased throughput and flexibility, it sacrifices some accuracy. The adjustable slit assembly can be continuously varied from fully closed to a width of 3 mm, with the slimmest practically achievable width being 4 µm. Additionally, a height adjustment slide can make a 2 mm to 12 mm variation in the height. The adjustable slit is primarily designed for versality in throughout and resolution changing.
For operation manually without the need for a computer, the CS130 can be used with the 74009 Hand Controller. This monochromator has the capability to automatically control a USFW-100 Filter Wheel, capable of accommodating up to six 1-inch diameter filters. These filters can be mounted to the slit holder male flange or the slit itself, with neutral density filters available for intensity adjustment. To streamline control and customization, the CS130 comes equipped with LabVIEW-based utility software, offering an intuitive command set for personalized programming. Additionally, the MonoTERM utility can be utilized to send commands that are low-level to the monochromator.
To cater to spectroscopic applications that require a shutter, the CS130 is equipped with an integrated electronic shutter within its housing. This feature enhances its versatility and functionality for various experimental setups. Mounting the CS130 is made simple through compatibility with the 74006 Mounting Plate, which allows for attachment to an inch or metric optical table. This ensures consistent results over time as the monochromator's position remains stable and fixed. The mounting plate adds 0.25 inches to the optical height and features threaded holes for additional flexibility in mounting the monochromator to an optical rod, if necessary. To facilitate communication with external devices, the monochromator supports both USB and GPIB/RS-232 interfaces.
