The Newport ITHX-SD/N is a Virtual Chart Recorder, designed to enable users to effortlessly supervise and document temperature, relative humidity, and dew point metrics through an Ethernet network or Internet connection, all without necessitating supplementary software installations. This recorder can monitor temperature and humidity in a wide variety of applications, including but not limited to farm animal shelters, greenhouses, manufacturing facilities, museums, electronic assemblies, warehousing setups, semiconductor fabs, laboratories, hospitals, HVAC systems, computer rooms, and clean rooms. The ITHX-SD/N offers Active Web Pages that furnish real-time readings, charts of measurements, and data logging in standard formats, all of which are amenable for integration into applications such as spreadsheets or data acquisition software like Visual Basic or Excel.

Central to the ITHX-SD/N's capabilities is its removable 2 GB SD flash memory card, adept at retaining up to seven years' worth of readings taken at ten-second intervals. The captured data is neatly stored on secure digital (SD) flash cards in a user-friendly text file format, easily amenable for importing into spreadsheet applications and various other software platforms. These flashcards lend themselves to convenient perusal on both PC and MAC systems using standard USB card readers. Alternatively, data retrieval can be conducted remotely via the Ethernet network or Internet. Among its features, the ITHX-SD/N showcases a duo of 1.5 Amp relays that offer programmability to accommodate temperature and humidity thresholds, including configurations for high and low set point combinations. These relays can be configured to maintain a latched state, requiring manual intervention to reset after surpassing set limits.

The ITHX-SD/N is equipped with a universal 100 to 240 VAC power adapter, supplemented by a standard 9-volt alkaline battery for up to 2 days of autonomous data logging in the absence of external AC power. For measurement tasks in a singular location, this recorder is furnished with a temperature and humidity probe. Extending its utility, the recorder has the capacity to simultaneously display and graph absolute measurements from a secondary location, up to a distance of ten feet. This extension is facilitated by a supplementary probe, simply linked to the recorder through a straightforward DB9 "Y" connector. Installation and operation of the ITHX-SD/N are streamlined by its iServer technology, which mandates nothing more than a web browser for seamless access. The recorder interfaces with Ethernet networks through a standard RJ45 connector, transmitting data via conventional TCP/IP packets. This recorder has an intuitive menu that is accessible via web browser, and for added security, password protection can be implemented.
