The 560B by Newport is a Laser Diode Driver that is designed for demanding applications such as fiber optic communications and spectroscopy. This driver offers two current drive options: 3000 mA and 6000 mA, providing optimal flexibility in various setups. Designed with user convenience in mind, the 560B features intuitive front panel controls that facilitate easy operation in two distinct modes: constant laser power mode and constant current mode. With the dual current-level selection, users can precisely adjust the output to the laser diode, ensuring enhanced current resolution settings. Additionally, this driver is equipped with proven laser diode protection mechanisms, including relay shorting circuits and redundant FET, which effectively safeguard the laser diode during the slow turn-on sequence.
The 560B also offers a fully independent current limit setting and a standard USB interface, allowing seamless remote control. The driver is engineered to drive all configurations of LED or laser diode/photodiode packages safely. This driver has low noise current sources, which exhibit exceptional long-term stability of better than 50 ppm. This feature ensures precise and reliable performance over time, essential for critical applications. The user interface is highly compatible, supporting 32-bit and 64-bit machines, as well as Windows 7 and Windows XP operating systems. The 560B allows laser modulation up to 800 kHz in high bandwidth mode. It can be modulated slowly in low bandwidth mode to maintain low noise operation while enabling precision laser output power control and wavelength tuning using external control circuitry. This driver can reverse bias a monitor photodiode without the need for an external power supply. Moreover, the driver offers an external analog modulation input, providing voltage control of the output. This serves as a cost-effective alternative for monitoring and remotely controlling the laser diode, utilizing an Analog Interface Card.
