The Newport 6000 is a Laser Diode Controller, optimized for laser diode control applications. The controller's built-in 32 W temperature controller offers three operational modes: constant TE current, consistent temperature, and stable resistance encompassing thermistor, RTD, LM335 voltage, or AD590/92 current.

The 6000 controller boasts a short-term precision surpassing 0.0005°C, with long-term stability exceeding 0.001°C. Its proficiency is ideally suited for the comprehensive characterization of telecom laser diodes due to its integrated TE cooler measurement and sensor output capabilities. The temperature controller can be linked to the LDD module, causing the LDD to disengage and display an error message if the laser diode's temperature surpasses a pre-defined operational range. Installation options for the 6000 controller include rack mounting using a compatible kit. Moreover, the unit incorporates front legs designed to enhance the visibility of the LCD display. Utilizing these legs involves their downward rotation until they securely lock into position, subsequently placing the controller on a stable foundation. Additionally, the controller is pre-configured to operate within a nominal line voltage range encompassing 100, 120, 220, or 240 VAC, assuring seamless compatibility across different power supply setups.
