The 68938 by Newport is a Power Supply that boasts DC power input and provides highly regulated constant current to a infrared (IR) emitter or Quartz Tungsten Halogen (QTH) lamp that is rated at a 140W maximum. This power supply can be utilized with compatible Oriel rod mounts, housings, and lamps to achieve a light ripple of less than 0.4% rms. Current adjustments can be made with a precision output control knob from 0 to 12 amps. This knob also features a locking color, eliminating the need to readjust the current after reaching a desired set point. The 68938 has a soft-start feature that gradually ramps up the current to prevent damage and prolong a QTH lamp’s life when turning on a light source. A safety interlock feature ensures that the light source is disabled during situations like incomplete electrical connection, over temperature condition, and open lamp housing. A simple push button switch can be utilized to monitor emitter or lamp voltage. Additionally, the 68938 is easy to operate and provides a solid performance for a variety of common applications.
