The Newport 69931 is an Oriel Digital Radiometric Power Supply that is designed as a reliable source of constant current or constant power for Quartz Tungsten Halogen Lamps and IR Elements that are rated within the range of 10 A or 1100 W. The 69931 features a digital display which provides real-time readouts of lamp current, voltage, power, and usage. Additionally, the power supply incorporates a safety lock feature that prevents accidental exposure to the lamp, ensuring a safe operating environment. The device offers compatibility with standard RS-232 and optional IEE-488 (GPIB) PC interfaces. Through these interfaces, users can power the supply on and off, set the current or power present and limit, and closely monitor the current, voltage, power, and operating time.

The 69931 includes a digital meter that allows users to accurately duplicate calibration current settings. Moreover, the power supply allows users to keep track of the lamp's operating time in hours. This information is particularly crucial as a lamp's output degrades over time, and knowing its usage helps determine when it has reached its useful lifetime, prompting replacement. The 69931 is designed with lamp longevity and performance in mind. It gradually applies power during lamp start-up and reduces power during shutdown, preventing any damage from in-rush current and minimizing stress on the lamp.

To enhance user convenience, the 69931 can store a maximum of five different lamp setups, eliminating the need for reprogramming lamp parameters when switching between different lamp types. Safety is a priority in the design of the 69931. It includes a safety interlock feature that ensures the power supply will only power the lamp when the interlock is satisfied. If the interlock is broken during operation, the power supply will be automatically disabled. When used with an Oriel QTH Lamp Housing, the interlock switch on the housing door must be connected to the power supply's interlock socket. This connection ensures that overheating or accidental opening of the door triggers an automatic shutdown of the power supply, preventing any potential hazards.

The 69931's line harmonic reduction capabilities make it remarkably resilient to line voltage variation, resulting in improved overall efficiency. Additionally, its low noise design minimizes energy loss and reduces internal noise, leading to more precise and efficient control. For ease of installation, the 69931 can be mounted in a standard 19-inch mounting kit rack with an optional 3U rack. The power supply includes 6-foot-long cables to connect to a lamp housing, matching the length of the power cord for added convenience. Further flexibility is offered by the adjustable output range from 3 to 24A or 40 to 300W with preset options, allowing users to set the output before powering on the lamp. LED indicators are integrated to display the status of essential power supply functions, ensuring easy monitoring of its performance.
