The 845HP by Newport is a Digital Shutter System that is comprised from two integral components: the 845HP controller and the 856HP shutter. This precision-engineered system is engineered to operate seamlessly with power inputs of either 120VAC or 240VAC, supporting frequencies of 50/60 Hz. One of the standout features of the 845HP system is its exceptional reliability, underpinned by a minimalist design philosophy centered around a singular moving part – the shutter blade. This blade holds the dual functionalities of being positioned in either the open or closed configuration. Importantly, once it's moved into either position, it remains firmly in place without requiring a continuous power supply. The shutter's inherent stability is further augmented by a robust holding force, ensuring steadfast positioning in the absence of external forces or physical contact.

The 845HP system can be controlled remotely, available through both manual and computer-driven interfaces following initial setup. For manual operation, a remote control cable and switch are supplied, with seamless connectivity to the controller via a 5-pin “DIN” connector situated on the rear panel. The controller extends its utility through a 5-pin “DIN” style connector (J1) on the back panel, facilitating remote operation either manually or via a computer interface. Configurational aspects are addressed through the user-friendly front panel interface, enabling streamlined setup procedures and the establishment of key parameters such as delay times, start and stop commands, and reset functions. In terms of safety, inputs and outputs are safeguarded with a maximum voltage tolerance of 5.1 V through integrated zener diodes, ensuring the integrity of the system even in the face of potential power fluctuations. The shutter controller embodies a self-contained unit that harnesses discrete CMOS ICs to orchestrate the intricate logic required for precise shutter control, catering to a wide spectrum of applications.
