The APEX2-QTH by Newport is an advanced Illumination System tailored for both industrial and scientific applications. It leverages a high-quality QTH lamp to offer an economical lighting solution. One of its key features is a six-position integrated filter wheel, which can be conveniently controlled via a compatible monochromator, USB 2.0, or manually. Designed with portability and user-friendly operation in mind, the APEX2-QTH comes with an integrated power supply. Its manual shutter allows easy access, enabling users to make adjustments and control light blockage without the need to power down the lamp.

The versatility of the APEX2-QTH is evident as it can be seamlessly integrated with various optics and optical components, including fibers, monochromators, collimators, microscopes, telescopes, and expanders. The APEX2-QTH bulb assembly is carefully engineered, featuring an ellipsoidal reflector precisely aligned with a xenon bulb to produce a 100W QTH lamp. This arrangement ensures efficient broadband gray body source emission. Enhancing efficiency and ease of use, the integrated ellipsoidal reflector facilitates lamp replacement without alignment concerns. The system also captures a broader solid emission angle for better light coupling.

The motorized filter of the APEX2-QTH can accept 1" filters that are 5 mm thick, with precise positioning facilitated through USB 2.0 computer control or manual selection. The stepper motor is optimized to provide consistent filter positioning, achieving a rapid 1.7-second per filter speed. An LED display indicator on the filter enclosure's rear allows for easy and safe monitoring of the current filter position. For spectral analysis, the APEX2-QTH provides a normalized spectral output plotted against the wavelength range of 200 nm to 1780 nm on a logarithmic axis.

Designed with practicality in mind, the APEX2-QTH includes four adjustable feet with a 0.5-inch height range for easy unit leveling. The feet can be removed, and the base plate features mounting holes for convenient installation on optical tables, supporting both imperial and metric tables. The APEX2-QTH is a plug-and-play light source, producing a collimated 1.3-inch diameter output beam. Setup is quick and straightforward, as it operates with fixed power and does not require current or voltage adjustments. As a safety precaution, it's important to note that the system emits radiation. Therefore, users are advised to wear protective eyewear and gloves when operating the system or working in its vicinity.
