The P6000A by Newport is a versatile Programmable Counter offering a six-digit resolution for tasks such as pulse totalization and measurement of frequency ratio, time interval, period, and frequency. The P6000A's user-friendly nature stems from its front-panel push buttons accompanied by alphanumeric prompts displayed on-screen. Navigating through the various display settings and functions is facilitated by a dedicated button. Moreover, seamless programming and real-time monitoring of display data can be achieved via a RS-232 port, allowing integration with personal computers. Notably, configurations can be stored within the counter's non-volatile memory for convenient retrieval.
The P6000A features dual setpoints, complemented by corresponding alarm outputs. This configuration positions the counter as an effective on/off controller adaptable for both computer-managed and independent applications. The crystal time base at its core can be electronically calibrated, affording the flexibility for remote calibration through a personal computer or manual adjustments from the front panel. Augmenting its utility, the P6000A accommodates isolated signal conditioner options, which furnish one or two low-level, isolated amplifier channels. These channels endow the counter with heightened sensitivity and protective input features. Notably, the selectable RC filters cater to contact closure or low-frequency applications, further supported by a configurable one-shot mechanism designed for debouncing requirements. Users can fine-tune trigger levels using a multi-turn potentiometer and tailor hysteresis through push-on jumpers, offering three distinct levels.
