The 1422 by Newport is a New Focus Broadband Amplifier, designed to offer high-performance amplification within a compact form factor. The unit features Wiltron K-connectors for both input and output interfaces. The input side is equipped with a female connector, while the output side utilizes a male connector to interface with a high-speed photodetector. To facilitate easy attachment to a 10XX or 14XX series photodetector module, the amplifier incorporates a captive screw mechanism that securely fastens the unit. This arrangement, in combination with RF connectors, ensures a robust assembly that can function effectively as a single unit. When the amplifier is not being cascaded with other units, the presence of a male output connector may pose some inconvenience. To address this situation, users have the option to employ a compatible cable assembly. This assembly features a female K-connector on one end and a male K-connector on the other, allowing for more convenient usage of the amplifier in standalone configurations. Powering the 1422 is achieved through DC power, which is facilitated by a 3-pin Microtech connector. For added convenience, two power cables are provided with the amplifier to enable seamless power connections.
