The 481-A by Newport is a Rotation Stage, designed for meticulous angular adjustments of components. This stage boasts an inner stage that smoothly executes a 360-degree rotation within a precision-bored bearing. This inner stage can be securely locked in position using a conveniently side-mounted thumbscrew. Coarse translation adjustments can be achieved either manually by hand or through precise tangential control using a 100 TPI fine adjustment screw or micrometer. The outer stage of the 481-A is optimized for tangential manipulation and offers outstanding high-resolution capabilities. It features clearly marked scale indications at every degree, with an engraved vernier providing 5 arc-minute markings. This stage can also be integrated with compatible fine adjustment screws with 80 pitch.

The 481-A can be securely attached to breadboards and tables with clearance slots in its base. Alternatively, users can opt for attachment to posts using one of the two tapped holes thoughtfully incorporated into the stage's side. The 481-A has two 1-inch diameter retaining rings and a central aperture with a clearance hole, that allows components to be mounted on-axis. The central aperture boasts a 1.063"-20 threaded configuration, accommodating the secure mounting of 1-inch optics, including polarizers and waveplates, utilizing retaining rings, a PRA-05 adapter for 0.5-inch optics, or a CH-0.5 holder for 0.5-inch beam-splitting cubes. Furthermore, the stage offers the capability to thread a Glan-Laser Calcite Polarizer directly into the tapped aperture, while the RSA-1TI solid aperture input allows for the on-axis mounting of optical components supported by an optical post with a centered clearance hole.
