The 8310-V by Newport is a Vacuum-Compatible Closed-Loop Picomotor Actuator designed for precision applications that necessitate absolute position calibration and closed-loop control. This actuator incorporates integrated rotary encoders, as well as both reverse and forward limit switches, ensuring unparalleled performance and versatility. The 8310-V has exceptional set-and-forget long-term stability, coupled with remarkable accuracy, boasting an impressive ±1-μm bidirectional repeatability across a substantial half-inch travel range. The actuator's mounting shaft measures 0.375”, and it can be conveniently inserted into a bushing with a threaded nut. This method of mounting is the preferred choice as it minimizes the risk of distortion in the mount's housing.
The 8310-V features two cables, one of which is a 19” long, vacuum-compatible cable capable of withstanding pressures down to 10-6 Torr. This cable is terminated with a 15-pin miniature sub-D connector, specially designed for seamless integration with vacuum chamber feedthroughs. The other cable is purpose-built to establish a connection between the vacuum feedthrough and a New Focus driver, enhancing ease of use and compatibility. The 8310-V boasts a precision 63.5-nm encoder resolution, demonstrating its commitment to exacting standards. When approaching from a single direction, it delivers repeatability of <0.5 microns, and this figure remains <1 µm when approaching a target encoder count from any direction, showcasing its exceptional versatility.
