The 850G-HS by Newport is a Precision Closed-Loop Actuator designed to integrate into existing manual stages and other optomechanical components, serving as a direct replacement for manual micrometers while delivering superior motion control performance. Its innovative design optimizes space utilization by positioning the leadscrew and motor side-by-side, effectively halving the actuator's length and significantly mitigating adverse effects on submicron positioning repeatability due to long cantilever structural loads. The 850G-HS boasts a robust qualification, having demonstrated reliability with a mean-time between failure of 2,000 hours, making it particularly well-suited for demanding industrial and OEM applications with higher duty cycles.

The 850G-HS features adjustable moveable limit switches, providing a versatile travel range from under 1 mm to a maximum of 50 mm. These electro-mechanical limit switches act as safeguards, preventing potential damage resulting from over-travel of the actuator. For added convenience, the actuator can be manually adjusted with precision using a dedicated knob, even when the motor is not in operation. Laser-marked scales in both inches and millimeters offer clear and intuitive coarse actuator position indication. To ensure seamless compatibility, it is recommended to pair the 850G-HS with an ESP or MotionMaster motion controller. The actuator can be easily connected to a compatible motion controller using a 3.5 cable, enhancing overall positioning performance.

In terms of performance, the standard gearbox ratio actuator delivers an impressive maximum thrust exceeding 25 points or 18 mounts when operated continuously over numerous cycles. Powered by a low-inertia DC motor, the actuator guarantees smooth and precise movement, all while maintaining low levels of mechanical and acoustic noise.
