The CONEX-AGP by Newport is a Single Axis Motion Controller, designed for the precise management of piezo actuators equipped with encoder feedback. Designed to cater to a diverse range of Agilis-type piezo stages, this controller establishes a seamless connection between a personal computer and the motion system, all within a compact and economically efficient framework. Facilitating communication through a USB port compatible with Windows operating systems, the controller offers a streamlined approach to basic motion control. Moreover, the CONEX-AGP extends its utility to advanced application programming through an ASCII command interface, bolstered by a collection of succinct two-letter mnemonic commands.

The operational versatility of the CONEX-AGP is embodied through six distinct operational states: Moving, Disable, Ready, Homing, Configuration, and Not Referenced. This comprehensive array of states ensures secure and consistent operation throughout. Featuring an intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) akin to the familiar CONEX interface, this controller can be accessed via the USB connection, simultaneously providing power to the controller unit. The core control algorithm of the CONEX-AGP adopts a closed-loop design, simplifying the conventional DC servo loop algorithm, which is further augmented by the incorporation of a direct-read encoder system. Notably, users possess the flexibility to fine-tune the deadband parameter, thereby effectively mitigating dithering effects when the stage reaches predetermined position tolerances.
