The GON65-U by Newport is an Upper Goniometric Stage designed to facilitate the rotation of objects around an unobstructed axis positioned above the central platform. Unlike other goniometers driven by worm gears, this stage utilizes a precision dovetail slide actuator, which significantly reduces backlash. This unique feature enables the stage to accommodate a wide range of actuators, including adjustment screws, motorized actuators, and differential micrometers. The GON65-U boasts a patented design (U.S. Patent 6,601,524) that enhances its functionality.

The GON65-U also offers stackability, allowing multiple stages to be combined. When stacked, the rotational axes intersect, enabling rotation in three dimensions rather than being confined to a single plane. Furthermore, the GON65-U provides a ±10° range of rotational motion when used with a 25 mm travel actuator, and a ±5° range when paired with a 13 mm travel actuator. To ensure stability during operation, the stage can be locked tightly with a hex screw that can be found on the side of the stage. Notably, this stage is compatible with both the DS Series Linear Stages and RS Series Rotation Stages of matching size. This compatibility facilitates the creation of multi-axis motion systems and allows for seamless integration with specific requirements of diverse setups.
