The LTA-HL by Newport is a Motorized 25 mm Travel Actuator specifically designed to handle heavy-duty applications. This actuator is equipped with a M12-0.5 mounting bezel and a 8 mm diameter rod, making it compatible with MVN80 and UMR8 linear stages. Its purpose is to seamlessly replace manual micrometers in specific manual stages and other opto-mechanical components. For control, the LTA-HL can be used in conjunction with the CONEX controller, a compact and cost-effective driver tailored for low power DC servo and Stepper motor driven devices, offering plug-and-play functionality. Additionally, it is compatible with various standard manual stages.

Featuring precision motion capabilities, the LTA-HL relies on a miniature DC servo motor that has an output torque that is optimized. This configuration enables the actuator to handle high load capacities and achieve faster motion. When the motor is not engaged, an adjustment knob is provided for swift positioning of the actuator. To indicate the coarse actuator position, a visible scale is incorporated, displaying measurements in both millimeters and inches. Positioned below the scale's window, there is a conveniently accessible trigger that allows manual adjustment of the actuator's travel range. Notably, the LTA-HL employs a non-rotating tip, which counteracts wear and eliminates periodic motion variations that can happen during actuator movement.

Designed with space efficiency in mind, the LTA-HL arranges the motor and lead screw side by side, effectively reducing the actuator's length by 50%. This design choice minimizes the adverse effects of long cantilever loads on micro-positioning equipment. Furthermore, the non-rotating tip ensures durability and consistency by eliminating motion irregularities caused by rotating tip contacts on the mating surface. To prevent over-travel, the LTA-HL includes a moveable limit switch that can be adjusted within minutes to set the maximum travel position. When the motor is disengaged, the manual adjustment knob allows for intuitive and swift actuator positioning. Marked scales on the actuator provide clear reference points for coarse position measurement in both millimeters and inches.
