The M-436A by Newport is a Manual Linear Stage that employs crossed-roller bearings that smoothly glide along ground steel V-ways, offering users substantial load-bearing capacity, high-resolution movement capabilities, and minimal runout. This stage boasts a central aperture of 50.8 mm within its mounting plate, coupled with an impressive 50.8 mm travel range and M6 tapped holes for added versatility. This design permits the convenient stacking of multiple stages, allowing for optimized XY applications. The M-436A can be configured as part of XYZ assemblies when used in conjunction with a 360-90 Angle Bracket. Additionally, this stage is equipped with a non-influencing lock mechanism that effectively secures the stage's travel, ensuring precise positioning. Its symmetrical design affords the flexibility of reconfiguration for both right-handed and left-handed operation.

The M-436A features preloaded crossed-roller bearings, which facilitate highly repeatable linear motion with zero stick-slop and minimal side-play. The cylindrical rollers, strategically held in place by roller strips, maintain a 90-degree inclination to ensure consistent linear contact with the ground and hardened ways. This construction not only enhances load-bearing capacity but also promotes smooth and stable travel. User-selected actuators are spring-supported to achieve a deviation of less than 150 µrad and minimal backlash. They rest upon hardened carbide inserts, delivering repeatable and stable motion. Importantly, the springs in these stages provide preload against the actuator tip, effectively eliminating backlash. Users can easily interchange these actuators to tailor the stage to their specific requirements. The M-436A is compatible with a range of actuators, including motorized actuators, differential micrometers, Vernier micrometers, and adjustment screws, all of which can be configured to fit the stainless steel actuator mounts in multiple configurations.
