The MFN25PP by Newport is a Motorized Linear Stage specifically engineered to address space limitations in multi-axis assemblies that are compact and different applications. This stage offers cost-effective, high-resolution, single-axis translation capabilities. To ensure optimal performance, it is highly recommended to connect the stage with an ESP or MM series motion controller. The stage comes equipped with a 3-meter cable and a 1.5-meter cable, both featuring a 25-pin Sub-D connector, enabling seamless connectivity to a motion controller. Notably, the MFN25PP is meticulously optimized for inspection systems, laser diode research, and fiber optic alignment applications.

The MFN25PP has tapped mounting holes, allowing compatibility with a wide range of components for convenient top-mounted stage installation. Its modular stage design facilitates effortless assembly of stages into multi-axis configurations. Within the carriage of the stage, a miniature DC or stepper motor drives the motion through a backlash-compensated lead screw and nut system. Precision-ground, double-row ball bearings are incorporated to ensure accurate linear travel. The MFN25PP includes a motor-mounted rotary encoder that delivers superior resolution of better than 0.1 µm, meeting the demands of high positioning requirements. The presence of end-of-run limit switches prevents bearing damage by averting accidental over-travel. To ensure utmost precision, this stage undergoes systematic testing in an air-conditioned room using a laser interferometer to assess on-axis accuracy, repeatability, and reversal error. The testing procedure involves a linear cycle comprising 21 measures of travel in both directions, with 4 cycles executed per direction, resulting in a total of 164 data points.
