The PM500-C by Newport is a Precision Motion Controller Chassis that incorporates an axis board framework that accommodates up to six axis boards simultaneously, providing optimal flexibility in motion control applications. At the heart of this system lies the controller board, which plays a pivotal role in orchestrating axis functions and managing external interface communications. Notably, the configuration of RS-232 communication is a key requirement for this controller. This configuration is facilitated through the utilization of S1 and S2 DIP switches, conveniently positioned on the upper edge of the controller board alongside the power supply interface. A distinctive feature of the PM500-C is its utilization of three distinct types of memory storage components: random access memory (RAM), read-only memory (ROM), and EEPROM. These memory storage elements are integral to both the Single Board Computer (SBC), also known as the motherboard, and the Axis card. Such comprehensive integration ensures optimal data storage and retrieval, contributing to the system's high-performance capabilities.
