The PM500-K6 by Newport is a Remote Control Console designed to facilitate the manual control of positioning tasks of a straightforward nature. This console offers versatile functionality through two distinct communication interfaces, RS-232 and GPIB (IEEE-488), catering to different operational requirements. The RS-232 interface enhances compatibility by enabling seamless communication with a wide range of computers, streamlining integration efforts. In contrast, the GPIB interface stands out in scenarios demanding swift data transfer, particularly in data-intensive applications with extensive data blocks. It is especially suitable for situations necessitating support for multiple instruments, coordination and synchronization of multiple systems, as well as real-time status reporting capabilities.

The PM500-K6 provides manual control over a broad spectrum of motion operations while providing continuous position feedback for up to three selected axes. This console is engineered for control over a maximum of six axes and seamlessly interfaces with compatible 5-axis PM500 controllers without requiring modifications. The PM500-K6 has dedicated 6-axis control key sets for precise axis manipulation, configurable incremental and slewing axis motions, three velocity range switches for tailored speed adjustments, and a 10X multiplier key that facilitates the selection of six distinct step sizes and velocities. The console boasts a user-friendly 40-character backlit LCD display capable of showcasing the positions of up to three axes. The console offers a self-promoting programming menu replete with selectable parameters that can be conveniently stored in non-volatile memory. These parameters encompass display sign conventions, key direction settings, and speed values, ensuring a personalized and streamlined user experience. Furthermore, this console can be operated in both menu and execute mode.
