The RV80PP by Newport is a highly precise Motorized Rotation Stage designed for angular positioning accuracy and capable of bearing high loads despite its compact, annular design. This stage is meticulously configured to accommodate various operating conditions, allowing for optimization of load capacity, torque, speed, and resolution. Constructed using durable tool steel, the RV80PP ensures rotation accuracy through a double row of preloaded ball bearings on hardened surfaces. This feature permits the stage to handle significant loads that are off-center while occupying a smaller footprint. The single monolithic design of the stage enhances stiffness while maintaining its powerful performance.
The RV80PP is equipped with limit switches that restrict rotation to ±170°, as well as a home position search device. In cases where rotation beyond 360° is desired, the stage includes a switch that disables the limit switches. To facilitate seamless integration, the stage is furnished with a 3-meter cable featuring 25-pin Sub-D connectors for direct connection to compatible controllers/drivers of MM or ESP series. The RV80PP employs a stepper motor-driven system, utilizing a mini-step drive (PP) with 1/10-step per encoder count. This configuration enables high-speed angular motion of up to 20°/sec. The Mini-Step Drive is specifically designed for stepper motors, where each pulse emitted by the electronics corresponds to a theoretical physical motion fraction of a full step of the motor.
