The UTR120 by Newport is a Manual Precision Rotation Stage designed to facilitate precise ±2° fine-tuning of the angular orientation of various components after their initial rotation to an approximate angle. This stage is particularly well-suited for applications requiring transmission and features a center aperture that allows for convenient adjustment of rotating components and easy mounting. Constructed from steel, the UTR120 boasts a higher load capacity, ensuring reliable performance even with heavier components. Its impressive sensitivity of better than 6-arc-seconds ensures accurate and smooth trajectory with minimal eccentricity. The stage's bearings are preloaded into tool steel races that have been precision-ground, further contributing to its exceptional precision.
The UTR120 has a side-mounted clutch knob, which, when disengaged, permits continuous free rotation over 360°. This capability enhances flexibility during the alignment process. The stage incorporates a zero-backlash manual drive, offering a fine motion adjustment range of 4° once the approximate angular orientation is achieved. Scale markings are provided on the side of the stage, and a vernier on the stage body allows for precise angular position measurement with a resolution of 1 arc minute. For convenient mounting of components, the UTR120 features 1/4-20 tapped holes on its 4.7-inch diameter top surface. Additionally, it can be mounted to a table using a PBN series Base Plate along with BR series Mounting Bridles, near the base of the stage. For more advanced configuration possibilities, the UTR120 is compatible with high load, double row ball bearing UMR Linear Stages, enabling the creation of X, Y, θz stage stack configurations.
