The U200-A by Newport is an ULTIMA Kinematic Mirror Mount, a high-performance optical positioner designed to meet the rigorous demands of research, development, and industrial OEM applications. This mount, optimized for stability and functionality, is specifically tailored for use with 2-inch diameter optics and does not include actuators. One of the standout features of the U200-A is its robust construction, featuring thick front and rear plates and stiff springs that ensure long-term stability and protection against vibrations. To facilitate smooth and repeatable motion, hard carbide pads are incorporated into the design.

The clear quadrant design of the U200-A enhances its versatility as a positioning system for mounting mirrors. This mount serves as a fundamental building block for various optical systems because of its compatibility with a wide range of optical mounting accessories. This mount offers convenient clearance mounting holes on two sides, which accommodate both 8-32 and M4 screws, allowing for quicker, more precise, and secure mounting. It can be post mounted in order to adjust the height or mounted to pedestal posts for a fixed height. The clear edge design of the U200-A enables reflection of beams at smaller incident angles, reducing the space required between mounts. This feature is particularly useful for pulse dispersion effects compensation through multiple reflections on Chirped Mirrors.

A notable aspect of the U200-A is its flexure lock mechanism, which utilizes an AJS busing to exert tangential force on the screw, effectively preventing rotation and unintended adjustments. Moreover, this mount incorporates an industry-standard clamp design that allows seamless integration with a wide array of actuators to precisely adjust the mirror position to meet specific application requirements. Actuators can be easily replaced by loosening two screws, enabling smooth sliding into and out of the mount. This mount supports various adjustment options, including standard knob adjustment screws, hex key adjustment screws, micrometers, and motorized actuators. For applications demanding long-term stability, the U200-A offers lockable 100 TPI adjustment screws as a preferred choice.
